Microfiction Monday

Susan at Stony River gives us an illustration each week. Our task is to come up with a story in 140 characters or fewer (includes all spaces and punctuation). Difficult? Sometimes, sure. But worth it -- and hey, she gives us a whole week.

Here's this week's illustration:

Confused Vegan
Ferdinand sniffed at the woman’s dress.
“Is that leather you’re wearing?”
“Yes, but it’s organic so it’s okay.”

What a brilliant blog - unusual and full of interest and variety. Thanks for visiting me, it has enabled me to find you.
I've never tried flash fiction, but I might just have a go at this one.

That pretty much sums up the Vegan culture for me...well played!

You got it right! Organic is the in thing now and you relate it nicely to a pic of a different period in history.

Hi South Lakes Mom! Your story is one of my favorites!! Very funny! (thanks for commenting on my story, too!)

Organic leather, free range I'm sure. Clever!

Thank you everyone . . . to my vegan friends, I'm not poking fun at you. On the contrary, I admire you sticking to your guns...er...position. I'm really making fun of the people I know around here who are so set on everything having to be 'organic' that the term has lost its meaning.

Cheers, all!

Gotta love it, organic leather, so it's okay.
I wouldn't have thought of looking at this from the bull's point of view, good for you.

Or maybe it's okay because she isn't going to eat it? LOL! I live in a community with a high concentration of "vegans" so I have seen such contra-indicators.

Hilarious! A vegan herding cattle and wearing organic leather! Very creative and unique. Thanks for the morning laugh.

Ferdinand, now this was good. I wonder if the Leopard Hat was Organic.

SouthLakesMom said...

You know Bill, I think at one time it probably was!

What? No vegan catalog from which to order? The poor thing! I should have my daughter get in touch with her.

Ouch! Well done! Vegans hoisted on a petard, but gently.

Love the point of view of this. Plus you got in the Ferdinand the Bull allusion. And even though I'm one of those organicistas, you made me laugh.

Have a great week.
