Random Dozen of Caring

Thank you once again to Lidna at 2nd Cup of Coffee because she co-mingles, via this meme, a great body of men and women who are caring and giving. Most of us don't know each other in person, but everyone is very kind and supportive. How cool is that? If you want to be part of this very elite and special group, go to Linda's blog by clicking above. Copy and paste the questions into your own blog. Answer them. Post. Link to Linda. Go visit the other people who have linked. Comment (nicely) on their answers. Simple and fat free (unless you're eating poptarts while you do it).

1. Which Wizard of Oz character are you most like?
The Wizard. I like to think I'm in control, but down deep, I know I'm just a big fraud about it who really wants to get back home where I belong.

2. When you're deciding what you're going to wear each morning, which item do you select first? Why? Pants or skirt. There are fewer of them in proportion to tops, so they dictate what top will go with.

3. What kind of animal do you think the world could live without? Oooh, this is dangerous ground. See why
here. I guess Manatees. No wait - Mosquitoes. Definitely mosquitoes. Are insects technically animals?

4. How many Christmas trees are in your home? None at the moment. But soon, only one. Live.

5. Would you prefer to be emotionless if it mean you didn't have to feel a heartbreak? No. My emotions, even the heartbreaks, are part of what make me able to connect with others. And I had any doubts about that, it was my privilege today to weep and pray with one of my sisters in Christ. Without the weeping, we do not fully appreciate the joy when it comes.

6. Do you ever experience holiday let-down or depression? Yes. See why
here.

7. Do you like Michael Jackson's music? Yes. I always thought he had tremendous musical talent. Want to read more about this response? See
here.

8. Why is it that we never judge people who have their teeth fixed for cosmetic reasons, but every other cosmetic procedure has a stigma? Who says we don't judge the people who fix their teeth either? We judge because we're shallow and insecure. It's only at this point in my life that I finally realize how stupid that is!

9. Enjoy horseback riding? No. I did some in high school and just never got into it.

10. Shoes--practical or stylish? Practical.

11. What was the name of your first pet? Feel free to post a pic. Our first family pet that I remember was Snookie. Her real name was Hikokinomimi. That's Japanese for Airplane Ears. She was a dachshund. This isn't her -- I can't put my hands on a photo at the moment. Well, actually I can, but she looks possessed in it, so I'll pass. This is a googled image.

12. What percentage of your Christmas shopping is done? About 25%. Unfortunately, the 75% that still needs to be done is for people who live far away...thank God for the internet!

I enjoyed reading your answers...I so agree with #5. And I too am thankful for the internet because I really need to get cracking on the shopping! I'm headed out today but as you can see I'm reading blogs so I don't know how much I'll get done : )

My tree isn't up either and I'm at about the same point w/my shopping. I'm hopeful to get some of that done yet this week. Blessings, SusanD

Your answer to #1 made me laugh. I never thought of the wizard but your answer was right on for me.

Manatees are cute. They can stay just for the cute factor. Mosquitoes? Nothing redeeming about them. Go for the mosquitoes being gone..

We have several of the same comments. I didn't think anyone besides me would say OZ! :) Heehee!

I also had several animals growing up with Japanese names. Funny

Like you, I value this community that has been created around the Random Dozen -- it's a truly wonderful source of support (and often, a good laugh!).

I had mosquittos too!

I have been trying to pull out the Christmas decor. I really could skip it this year - but that would be so unfair to my 13 year old. I guess if I were like Dorothy and those shoes to click, maybe I could click and it would be up and then click again and it would magically go back in the boxes in the closet!

I so agree with your answer on emotions. So often we look at the gloom and trials for so long we forget about the Joy at the end of it.

I love your answer to #1!

No tree. No Christmas shopping. No guilt. No after Christmas depression.

We are concentrating on Christ this year and letting the commercialism go. We will send a gift to Amoeba's mom. I haven't decided just what yet.

Ha! those are great! I will have to back and read the links to your reasons. You know your answer on the first makes me think of how his voice was so big yet his stature did not measure up. Like my little mini-schnauzer all bark but not much to back it up. (not you of course but that is where my mind went. lol)
Well I finally got A LOT of decorating done but still not the tree. He is supposed to get it out today for me....we'll see lol
