A Cold 18 hours

Our mailbox and street at 9 am.  It kept snowing all day.

Our power went out this morning at 2:50 a.m.  I know that was when it was because I was awake.  I don't know why I was awake, but I saw a brilliant flash.  Then another. Then I heard all the surge protectors beeping so I got up and turned them off, called the power company to report it and went back to bed.

By this morning the snow was up over my husband's bumper.  Our power just came back on at 6:06 p.m.

Praise the Lord for people who work for the power company in near-blizzard conditions to try to keep us warm.  The funny thing is that we had just moved all blankets, pillows and bedding to the basement because it was warmer.  We figured we'd be sleeping down there.

Relax everyone, the budgie is unfazed.

I'm glad you're back on again! Our heat doesn't depend entirely on electricity because we have open fireplaces in the house, but we have our own well so our water does. Heat or water, which is harder to live without...yikes, neither one is easy!

Stay safe and warm in all that snow!

I wondered when we were going to hear from you. Have heard from others back there and seen this mess that you all are going through. I'm glad you all are safe and warm now. Much Aloha :)

I am glad your power wasn't off long and you were able to stay warm and comfortable. The service people who work out in that kind of weather are heroes in their own right. Many people would die of not for them.
