Microfiction Monday

By now you know the drill -- Susan posts an illustration and we all try to write a witty, clever, or otherwise story in 140 characters or fewer. That includes all punctuation and spaces. Then we link to Susan's blog, Stony River, and visit each other and say nice things.  It's easy -- join us!

This week's illustration:

Hello, power company? It will be HOW long until the power’s back on? I think I’ll take the things OUT of my refrigerator to keep them cold!

(Okay, I promise, that's enough pseudo-whining about the power outage.  We're due more snow on Tuesday evening! Sigh.)

Whine away, it's a great idea for MFM!
Love your header picture, wow!

Oh no! I hate when the power goes out. But in some parts of the country it WOULD keep things colder to put them outside! Hope it comes back on for you soon.

Barbara -- it's on again. It was out for 18 hours on Saturday. Now if we can just get the kids back in school.

Crap I forgot to ask...how close are you to Alexandria? CNN had a piece on all the snow there and when it turns to ice early this morning. I thought of you immediately :)

more than justified whining in my book (i sympathise)!
great take!

You are allowed to whine when you have no power. And you did put it to good use in your story.

LOL! That really isn't funny! I have been in a position where I thought that might have to come to pass!

I couldn't *believe* it when I heard you were getting more on Tuesday! And that poor girl does look terribly harried and sick of that weather altogether.

Stay warm and stocked up through it all, and I hope you stay "electrified" too!

Thank you everyone for your kind words and concern. Yep, expecting 12-18 inches more tomorrow through tomorrow night. School is now closed through Wednesday. The neighboring county has bagged the whole week.

Thom, if the weather was clear, I could be in Alexandria in 15 minutes. We lived over there when both the kids were born.

And yes, that ice thing...just enough melted today to make walking treacherous if one isn't careful. Since daughter goes to the busstop before first light, I'm just as happy she'll be in bed tomorrow and Wednesday morning instead.

Blessings, all! K

Ah, the irony! We endured Hurricane Hugo: 13 days with no power but the telephone worked the whole time!

It's not whining if you're cold and under that much snow! I'm sending warm thoughts your way.

WOW! Stay warm, stay safe, and thanks for the great new take on the photo! Great story line with a funny punch - that probably comes way too close to true :D

Hope - that's what happened to us. Our phone line was fine, which was good so I could call it in right away! We were without power after Hurricane Isabel here, but it wasn't 13 days! And it was warm!

Skald - thanks for warm wishes! This next batch is supposed to have a wicked cold wind along with it. Ick. The government is already closed for tomorrow!

Sorry but we have to have a week of chaos on the fall of a snowflake here in the south of the UK. I dread the consequences of real snow!
