Random Dozen

It's that time again, and Linda at 2nd cup has given us 11 random questions and a fill in your own question.  If you haven't joined in before, that 'fill in your own question' might just push you over the edge . . . so jump in with both feet!

1. If you could compete in one Olympic event (not necessarily winter sports) what would it be? None.  One marathon just about killed me.
2. Do remember a specific Olympic moment from the past? Nadia when she was cute and little and scored the first 10 of her career.
3. Have you ever known anyone who competed in the Olympics? Yes, my friend's daughter went to the summer olympics in Beijing to compete in swimming.
4. If everyday activities were Olympic-worthy, which activity would you have a gold medal in? This is why I couldn't be an olympian.  I'm a generalist, not a specialist.  I do lots of things well, but nothing particular that I can say would require the focus of olympic stature.
5. Do you know anything about your ethnic heritage? Yes. Lots of English/Welsh/Scot but everyone in this country by late 1600's.
6. Do you enjoy sleeping late? I adore the idea but when I get the chance I tend to go ahead and get up.
7. Have you ever performed CPR on anyone? Do you know how? (Yes, that's two, I know. Whatevs.) No. Yes.
8. Name one country you'd like to visit and explain why. Can I choose a region?  I'd like to travel the Holy Land -- all of it -- without being harrassed.  Sigh.  I know, it's a dream.
9. Have you ever fixed up a couple romantically? Yes, I fixed my hair dresser up with a runner I did the marathon with.  Three years later they were married!
10. What is the last book you read? Drive by Daniel Pink.
11. Do you enjoy sleeping late? NO, YOU write the question! How's that for random??  Question: Do you like listening to church bells ringing from the steeple?
12. What is your favorite meal at your favorite restaurant?  It used to be Chicken Cashew at Thai Towne, but Thai Towne closed so I haven't found a good substitute yet.

And finally, a big THANK YOU to Lidna, for the great John 3:16 T-shirt!  I love to wear "proclaim it" T-shirts to the gym so this is one to add to the collection.  People ALWAYS read T-Shirts at the gym (mostly to see if they've competed in the same races).  Thank you, thank you, thank you, Lidna! You and your blog are a blessing in my life!

That Holy Land tour is on my list too - but not really the "tour". I just want to "explore".

I LOVE to hear the church bells ring -- and I really prefer REAL church bells as opposed to a recording of church bells.

I can relate to your #4 answer (generalist) and totally agree with your travel destination. *sigh*
One day. For you and me both.

I like the holy land idea, my minister at my old church actually planned a whole trip and he's leaving in April with some of the congregation, of course if I had a couple thousand dollars in my bank account I would be with them, it seem like a really cool place to visit.

Maybe you should do the luge, they're isn't much energy to that, you just need to push off in the begining and then lay down and control your speed. . .Hmmm or maybe bobsleeding that's a cool sport ;)

Chicken Cashew sounds really good. . .Maybe I'll have to try some Thai food.

Love all of your answers :)

I love hearing church bels, I actually miss not hearing them at the new house.

I love that you didn't answer your own question. Yes, I love hearing church bells ring from steeples. This is random (what better day for that), but I was organizing our church's library yesterday and while moving some marketing displays the metal leg hit a metal shelf and rang like a church bell. I banged them together on purpose the second time and announced to the others in the room, "I love church bells." I'm weird like that. :)

Thai Town - haven't heard of that one.

I am with you on visiting the Holy Land. That would be awesome to walk where He walked.
You asked about my dates, yes it was 0164. That is just my trunk line and the reason it went back so far was because of King Henry. They keep better records on Royalty. Anyway genealogy is so much fun and so addicting! Enjoyed your answers!

I can't comment really on the Olympics; we haven't had a television for years and without that, well the Olympics don't happen LOL

But I do like church bells, especially if they're real bells, and not canned chimes from speakers. In West Virginia last year when I was looking at houses I considered one bang next to the Catholic Church (hey, never late for Mass again LOL) and while I'd love those bells on a Sunday morning, it occurred to me that perhaps I should think about possibly re-selling down the line---and no, maybe *not* a selling point for most people!

In Ireland, we hear the church bells every morning, noon, and again at 6pm, on the radio or television as well as in the open air. Our evening news is called the "6-one news" because it comes one minute after 6pm--after the Angelus has finished ringing.

Re: the church bells. I lived in Europe so I LOVE REAL church bells. Now we live within easy walking distance of the local Catholic church. In the spring and summer and fall when we have the windows open we hear the bells, but it's nothing like Europe. Because apparently when they installed their new bells, they ran afoul of the county 'noise' ordinance in terms of decibels and some cranky people took legal action to make them turn it down AND ring them less frequently.

Mean people are really stinky.

but at least you ran a marathon! that's awesome! I would like to do ice dancing if I was ever in the Olympics

It would be neat to go to the Holy Land with your Bible and a map and see all the places talked about, wouldn't it?

I remember Nadia now, too, though I didn't think of her in my answer.

I love your answer to #4 -- I think I'm the same way.

Oh, I forgot to answer about the church bells. If I lived near a church and heard them all the time, I think they'd get on my nerves. But on certain occasions or if I hear them unexpectedly, they do sound joyous and peaceful.

Yes, I love the church bells although around here there is no churches that ring bells anymore. :v(

Church Bells?
I've never lived in a town that had Church Bells ring, but my Grandmother did and I remember hearing them as I woke up on Sunday mornings when we visited her. Hadn't thought of that in years!

Thank you for visiting today and for the head's up on my link. Not sure what was up with that but everyone seemed to have found me. I think it's fantastic that you ran a marathon. That is something that would kill me for sure!

I totally agree with number 4. I am kinda good a lot of things, and maybe that is better than being really good at one thing.

I also like the idea of sleeping in, but never seem to be able to do it.

Great answers
